Child Advocacy Attorney:
Washoe Legal Services (WLS) is seeking a Child Advocacy Attorney to represent children in dependency and neglect cases pursuant to NRS 432B. The successful candidate will represent children in both Washoe County and Carson City. Child advocacy attorneys assure protection of the child's legal rights and provide a voice for the child in court and other settings. Attorneys work with a multidisciplinary team including the child, social workers, therapists, teachers, foster parents, attorneys, parents and relatives to help the children achieve a safe and permanent home.
Job duties may include the following: establish a relationship with the child client and maintain regular contact through in-person visits and phone calls; represent the child in adjudicatory, placement, review, permanency, and termination hearings; maintain regular communication with multidisciplinary team members; and attend meetings regarding the child, including team meetings, Wrap Around In Nevada (WIN) meetings, IEP meetings, and other meetings that pertain to the child.
Salary: $55,000+ depending upon experience and includes a generous benefits package, an excellent work-like balance, and the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life.
